About the Program

 

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Reading is designed to meet the increasing need for highly qualified practitioners in the area of reading. It offers a strong pedagogical and theoretical core from the reading discipline that will enable teachers to pursue an advanced degree. The Certificate of Graduate Study in Reading is offered by the College of Education, accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Curriculum - Program Code: .COCOG-READ / Major Code: G630

 

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Reading is a part-time program offered in an accelerated online format. It requires the completion of 15 graduate semester hours (5 courses) which are possible to complete in only 3 consecutive semesters. Courses in this program may be used to satisfy course requirements in Rowan’s Master of Arts in Reading or the Content Area COGS of Rowan’s Master of Education in Teacher Leadership.

 

Coursework

The following courses make up the Reading Certificate of Graduate Study program. Each course is scheduled in 8 week modules with each week of work starting every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and ending every Monday at midnight (Eastern Standard Time). Admission Requirements

 

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the Reading Certificate of Graduate Study program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below a representative from the CGCE Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or indicating any missing items.

  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)

  • Copy of NJ Teaching Certificate (Standard or CEAS only)

    Start Dates and Application Deadlines

Your actual first day of class will depend on the course sequence which will be provided by a CGCE Enrollment Advisor once you have matriculated in the program.
