Help with Blackboard Login Problems

Below are some of the most common Blackboard Login issues encountered by Students. If none of the following self-help options resolves your issue, submit a support request ticket with CGCE Advanced Tech Support by clicking here

IMPORTANT - Note the following information

  • Student accounts do not have access to Blackboard until 21 days prior to the course start date
  • Courses do not become available in Blackboard until 5 days prior to the course start date

Select an option below that best describes your problem and a resolution to the issue will pop up.

1. I do not know my username and/or have forgotten my password
  • If you have forgotten your username, forgotten your password, or are a first-time student, you must go through the Network Account activation process. Activating your account will provide you with a username and allow you to create a new password.
  • To activate your account, visit the CGCE Student Portal and click on the main page link to Manage Rowan Accounts.
  • On the Rowan Account Manager Page, click the button stating "I DO NOT know my username or password..."
  • Follow the instructions given by the Manager Page to activate your account.
  • Allow 10 to 15 minutes for your account activation to propagate to all University systems, then attempt to login.

2. I know my username & password, but they are not working
  • Ensure that you are actively enrolled in a CGCE course. To do this, you will need to log into Self-Service and check your schedule for the current or up-coming term. Students having issues with registration should email cgceacacemicservices@rowan.edu for assistance.
  • Once you log into Self Service, verify the following:
    • Are you a CGCE Student? CGCE courses have a letter after the section number, for example, Section 1C. If your course does not have a letter after the section number, you are not a CGCE student and should contact the campus support desk by emailing support@rowan.edu.
    • Is the course Online or Hybrid? Note the Session Type for your course. Is it listed as Online or Hybrid? If not, it may be setup to have access to Blackboard. You can verify if the course has been setup in Blackboard with your instructor.
    • Does the Course start in 21 days or less? Note the official Start Date of the course. You will not have access to Blackboard any sooner than 21 days in advance of this start date. If you are too early, try again when you are within 21 days from the start date.
  • If you answered YES to these 3 questions, then you should attempt to reset your password.
    • Visit the CGCE Student Portal and click on the main page link to Manage Rowan Accounts.
    • On the Rowan Account Manager Page, click the button stating "I already know my password ..."
    • Follow the instructions given by the Manager Page to activate your account.
    • Allow 10 to 30 minutes for your account changes to propagate to all University systems, then attempt to login.

  • IMPORTANT - While it may seem that there is no need to reset your password, the reset process may fix issues in the system with your account.

3. None of the above steps has resolved my issue

Make sure you have attempted the following:

  • You have activated your Rowan Network Account (Step 1)
  • You are sure that you have the correct username and password (Steps 1 or 2)
  • You have verified that you are a CGCE student enrolled in an Online or Hybrid course that starts in 21 days or less (Step 2)
